I have been asked if the Hugo House eggs are seasonal or if the eggs are available all year round.

I have free range guinea fowl who tend to lay their eggs from the end of March/ beginning of April til September.

I have quail and the japanese quail that live in an aviary tend to lay from February til September but I also have a large barn with quail in and they lay all year round. So I have quail eggs available for eating all year round.

I also have free range khaki campbell ducks and they have been laying since early Winter and as it is the first year I have kept the ducks it will be interesting to see if they stop laying.

Here is Helene’s response;

Thanks to your kindness, we had a fantastic lunch on Saturday! I cut out large circles from a loaf of granary bread, toasted the circles then topped each with spinach wilted in a very small amount of olive oil. Each circle was then topped with two fried quail eggs and covered lightly with a homemade cheese and mustard sauce. Alan and I loved it! Today the remaining eggs are being hard boiled to top spinach salads with crispy bacon and crumbled eggs.

I am pleased that Helene and her husband enjoyed the quail eggs as I know that they are partial to these tiny, yet flavoursome eggs and delighted that Helene told me how she used the quail eggs.

The new series of Ready Steady Cook has been filmed this Autumn with two new chef recruited and will be shown in January.

I recently went to London to film an episode of Ready Steady Cook for the new series which is due to be televised in January.

Whilst looking for information about when the new series would air I stumbled on an article about new chefs joining the Ready Steady Cook team. Aldo Zilli and Maria Elia are due to join the show according to the article. I can confirm that Aldo Zilli has joined the Ready Steady Cook team as he was one of the chefs on the episode that I am featured with my Hugo House Quail Eggs.

I am excited and nervous about seeing the Ready Steady Cook episode as I have never been on the TV before. It will be interesting to see how the programme has been edited and put together. I hope that they don’t do a close up of me tasting the food at the end of the show.
